​The Encounter Weight loss program was developed out of the recognition that we need more than the one dimensional approach to weight loss which has been promoted by the diet industry.   With this in mind, we have developed a set of core values that take you on a transformative journey towards change. These core values, which spell the word "E.N.C.O.U.N.T.E.R"  reflect a "whole person" approach to weight-loss. 
Our weight loss approach combines the latest breakthroughs in nutritional science with a step by step approach to resolving emotional eating, breaking free from quick-fix dieting and moving into permanent lifestyle change. Below you will find an overview of our core values and approach to weight loss which provide the foundation to what we believe and teach.

The Core Values of Encounter Weight Loss

E = Eat Real Food 
In this core value we explore how many steps away from real food most of what we consume has become, and the implications of this on our health and weight loss journey. 
N = Nutrition Matters 
In the last three years nutritional science has changed dramatically. This core value will show you how to gain a metabolic advantage in your weight loss journey by understanding and working with the latest breakthroughs in nutritional science. 
C = Connect with others
The number one support that our members say helps them to reach their goal is group connection. In this core value we come to understand the power of our connection with others and how this can translate to weight loss success. 
O = Open Up
Repeated frustration with weight loss can cause us to become shutdown both emotionally and in our weight loss progress. This core value teaches us how to become more open with our thoughts and emotions, rather than of internalizing them and overeating. We also explore the concept of intentionality as it applies to being open to new experiences and foods. 
U = Understand Yourself 
This core value helps us gain a clear understanding of the dynamics that  play into emotional eating. We examine they "layers" of emotional eating, and learn how to recognize the triggers that push us to overeat. We look at developing successful strategies to deal with each layer. 
N = No, guilt, No shame, No perfectionism
This core value explores the ways that guilt, shame and perfectionism can keep us in a cycle of addiction. we learn how to break free from these toxic emotions and move into a place of grace and freedom. 
T = Take back your dreams
Becoming overweight can shut us down and steal our dreams and plans for the future. In this core value, we learn how to take back our dreams and move from being a spectator to a participant in a fuller life. 
E = Exercise as a lifestyle
Exercise is an important part of regaining and maintaining our health and mobility, but it should not have to be a punishment or an unachievable goal. In this core value we learn how to "move more than before" and put the fun and desire back into an active lifestyle. 
R= Run to God
This is our last core value and in many ways our most important. The Bible has much to say about health and weight loss and we believe that inviting God into our weight loss journey should be a part of the process. Learning to tap into God's peace and presence rather than turning to food is an important part of finding lasting freedom from emotional eating patterns. 
By including God every step of the way, and by receiving spiritual support and encouragement from other members, you will not only lose weight, you will see a change in the way you think, feel, and see yourself!

​So as you can see above, each core value in the Encounter Weight-Loss program will teach you about an aspect of permanent lifestyle change. These will all work together both educating you in new food choices, and also helping you to take steps to resolve the underlying issues behind your struggles with food. This "whole person" approach to weight loss also reflects four different supports that you will encounter on your journey with us, which will help you to achieve your goal. Thus the name "Encounter" Weight Loss.
